       Program Returns February 1, 2011

Palm Springs Police "Radio Calls" was first heard on January 14, 1999, here on NEWSTALK 920. The program was the brainchild of Officer Don Dougherty as part of Palm Springs PD's Community Policing effort.

After taking a hiatus to do some actual police work, they have returned to NEWSTALK 920.

Officer Don Dougherty is a 26 year veteran of the Palm Springs Police Department, currently assigned to the patrol division.

Don is joined every week by Sgt. Mitch Spike and Officer Harvey Reed. Sgt. Spike has been with PSPD forr 28 years including 14 years as a supervisor. In addition to his duties as a patrol supervisor, Mitch has also been the police department's official spokesperson. As a licensed pilot, he coordinates and flies for the Palm Springs Police Aero Squadron.

Officer Harvey Reed joined the Palm Springs Police Department many years ago, but was a police sergeant in Foster City, California before migrating south. He, and his K9 partner Jag, is currently assigned to the Palm Springs International Airport. He also has experience as a professional radio rock & roll DJ.

Each Tuesday, Don, Mitch, and Harvey host the live radio show, inviting guests from different divisions in the Police Department, other City divisions, and from around the community. Guests have included published authors, political figures, and actors. The phone lines are open for residents and visitors to ask questions or make comments about any topic. Don, Mitch, and Harvey can also be reached by email at radiocall@pspd.com. Give us your ideas for future topics!
